Sagehen Men And Women Earn Team Scholar All-America Awards

Claremont, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams earned Team Scholar All-America Awards from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), it was announced this week.

Both teams ranked extremely highly in the Division III rankings. The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Swimming and Diving team ranked third in all of Division III with a 3.56 team GPA during the fall 2011 semester, while the Sagehens Women's Swimming and Diving team ranked fifth in Division III with a 3.55 team GPA.

The swimming teams continued an impressive run of recent success in team academic awards for Pomona-Pitzer athletics. The Men's Cross Country team ranked in the top five with a cumulative 3.56 team GPA and placed two individuals on the Scholar All-America team. The Women's Cross Country team placed in the top 10 in Division III with a 3.62 cumulative GPA. In the fall, the Pomona-Pitzer Softball team ranked fourth in Division III for 2011 with a 3.58 team GPA.

Over 400 schools participate in NCAA Division III athletics, making a top 10 finish in any sport's academic rankings particularly impressive.
