Women's Tennis Bounces Back With Win Over Chapman

Anaheim, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team won five of six singles matches to take a 6-3 win over Chapman on Sunday afternoon.

Everyone who played for the Sagehens contributed to one of the wins, a day after they suffered their first conference loss at CMS, as they improved to 10-6 overall on the year. Junior Jamie Solomon was the only player to lose a singles match (7-6, 6-2 at No. 1), but she and Kara Wang combined for Pomona-Pitzer's only doubles win (8-6 at No. 1 doubles).

Jessica Hsu earned a singles win at No. 4 (7-5, 6-2) in her only action of the day. Sammy Chao earned a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 2 to stay perfect in singles play this season, while doubles teammate Arthi Padmanabhan rallied after dropping the first set for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.

Nicole Holsted and Emily Kawahara suffered a tough 9-7 defeat in doubles, but regrouped to pick up commanding singles wins, with Holsted winning 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 and Kawahara winning 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6.

Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action on Wednesday when it travels to Caltech in a match that was rescheduled after Friday's rainout.
