Season’s bests and numerous PRs highlighted Pomona-Pitzer’s women’s track and field team Saturday, March 5 in a SCIAC four-way meet hosted by Occidental. The Sagehens fell to both Redlands and Occidental in the multi-dual team scoring.
Sophomore Roxy Cook took second in the 1500m (5:05.81) and third in the 800m (2:28.87), and Isabelle Ambler notched a personal best 70.64 by taking third in the 400m hurdles. Lara Hughes-Stinson cleared 10-0 to take third in the pole vault. Cassandra Owen ran 14:08.59 in her first-ever steeplechase to record the #9 all-time P-P mark in team history.
Pomona-Pitzer next faces Occidental again in a true dual meet on Friday, March 11. Field events plus sprints and hurdles will be contested during the day, while the distance events will be folded into the evening Occidental Distance Carnival, which will feature Division I, II, III and NAIA teams from across the west coast.
